Artist of the Month: Here in Parramatta (2024)

Artist of the Month is an initiative led by ABC Radio Sydney that spotlights emerging visual artists from Sydney. To celebrate Sydney’s diverse visual arts community, a new artist will be featured in the 6 Parramatta Square Lobby each month.

A illustration is available in the 6 Parramatta Square Lobby to launch the program in November. Here in Parramatta (2024) by Amy Wong celebrates the cultural diversity, food, and vibrancy of Parramatta City. The artwork portrays Wong’s local family, friends, fellow artists, and beloved pop culture characters strolling through the city and enjoying its various cuisines. The featured dishes are inspired by local businesses specialising in Chinese, Japanese, Western, Italian, and dessert offerings. Parramatta Park and Parramatta River, popular spots for Wong and the community, are also featured in the piece.
